We are a small business partnership of building conservation craftspeople, operating out of Cornwall but offering our services throughout the UK and beyond. We founded our business in April 2018, after leaving careers with the National Trust.
Our backgrounds lie in both the Museum and Building Conservation sectors of the Trust, with Charlie having gained 14 years’ experience with English Heritage prior to that. Between us, we have a combined professional background in Heritage Conservation of over 50 years and we really take our work to heart.
Our conservation principles lie firmly grounded in those of the SPAB, with their origins dating back to Charlie’s attendance on the 1989 Fellowship. Our main goal is to address the need for quality workmanship in the considerate conservation of historic buildings, with a particular focus on ruin consolidation and Scheduled Monuments at Risk.
Projects take us from the tip of Cornwall, via Lundy Island up to the Isle of Skye, for clients such as the National Trust, Landmark Trust, Historic England, MacLeod Estate and Cornwall Heritage Trust.
We specialise in
We are also highly experienced at providing limiting solutions for all types of damp ingress issues in traditionally built solid wall structures.
We are best suited for small-scale jobs and are happy to travel for our work.
If you need advice concerning any of our services, please contact us.
Our Heritage Construction Skills project aims to support training and development of the skills needed to maintain the historic buildings and places of North Devon, where we live, work, learn and play. These buildings will go on for many years to come if we look after them well, with the right people, the right people, having the right skills, and using the right materials.
This website is a foundation for that work – helping to put the people, the skills, the materials and the old buildings together, for a better future for all.
