This Introduction to Heritage Construction course covers a range of skills and responsibilities required to work on heritage sites
During the course, you will cover the following topics:
– Health and Safety
– Introduction to the alternative materials used in Heritage Construction
– Legal and planning control
– Practical sessions covering stone work, cob work, lime rendering, lime plastering and finishes on lime walls.
We are also planning to offer at least one site visit to a live heritage project so that you can see the skills being put into use in a real-world setting.
Our Heritage Construction Skills project aims to support training and development of the skills needed to maintain the historic buildings and places of North Devon, where we live, work, learn and play. These buildings will go on for many years to come if we look after them well, with the right people, the right people, having the right skills, and using the right materials.
This website is a foundation for that work – helping to put the people, the skills, the materials and the old buildings together, for a better future for all.
